But in my opinion, Lamott should have just stuck to examples of her chosen prayers that don’t make her look like a co-opting upper-middle-class gentile white lady.

It is these three prayers — asking for assistance from a higher power, appreciating what we have that is good, and feeling awe at the world around us — that can get us through the day and can show us the way forward. Pain and love, all at once. It’s a lovely book, even though it’s short and I wish there were more of it. Then something comes up, and I overreact and blame and sulk, and it feels like I haven’t made any progress at all.

It is a short, gift-type book. Lamitt you love her and are going to read anything she writes. Wonder takes our breath away, and makes room for new breath. In this regard, I am a wordy minimalist. Bodies and souls are fed.
