Realityland by David Koenig is an excellent book about the reality of Disney, one I really enjoyed. You can always find isolated examples of mistakes and wrongdoings in an enterprise as large as Disney, and Hiaasen has done just that, while making broad sweeping generalizations about the “evil” of Disney, all the while giving a slight nod to some of their positive attributes. He and his family live in southern Florida.

But I really did not agree with most of what Hiaasen had to say in this book. He also attacks Florida lawmakers and judges for their complicity.

Not sure this is how Walt envisioned his empire to look? Hiaasen has a light and comical way of being heavy-handed that I find delightful in these small doses. Yet too much of the mud he’s slinging misses The Mouse and smears itself across other targets.

Peep Land is here to remind us; a fixed compass point by which we can govern our private behavior. He thinks they are trying to erase reality, which they are but only in the parks, which is why so many people flock there!

This essay may seem to be a vicious stab at the wholesome goodness that is Disney, and many who spend their hard earned money on their yearly trip to mouse land will be incensed, outraged at the audacity of Hiaasen to point out that Disney is not the loving arms of your parents, it is a mega-glomorate that is a master of shifting perception and hails above all, the almighty dollar.

As far as I can tell he hates Disney because they have a strong brand and are successful. I suppose that Hiassen singles them out because of their image and he dislikes the way they operate in Florida.

Film-score buffs had a bonanza of riches to choose from in — notwithstanding the fact that the soundtrack business is almost unrecognizable from what it was even a decade ago. His bone of contention is that Disney World is an ongoing crime of cultural, political and environmental pollution against his beloved home state.

I also would like to read the similar story of Universal Orlando and its effect, combined with Disney’s, on Central Florida and the surrounding areas. Many of my friends worked there, we dealt with the Disney machine on a daily basis. For all I know the Disney Corporation is evil, but Carl Hiaasen has not done a very good job roodent proving it.

Hiassen himself while leaving Disney’s own image only lightly tarnished. The reason is obvious.

Without it, Florida would be but another Myrtle Beach. No this is no bizarre joke it is the complex facade that is The Walt Disney Company. Disney isn’t in the business hiaasem exploiting Nature so much as striving to improve upon it, constantly fine-tuning God’s work. The reality is something else, as Team Rodent well knows.

World Domination The wild land that was once outside a small American city of Orlando is now grid locked with cars most days and the roads are all plastered with kitschy souvenir shops. This book is incredible, and forever changed by mind about the Disney machine. He hates what they’ve done to Florida.

You will be redirected dodent to your article in seconds. This is no rational writer. Bring on the Drugs!!!???

I don’t think he understands that many o I discovered this book when looking at the published ordent of Hiassen after I read Hoot. I guess they shouldn’t make any movies about anything because consumers can’t be held responsible for there actions.
