Darcy escapes London for a country house trying to forget Elizabeth and, perhaps, find a “proper” wife, but all he finds is trouble.

Pamela Aidan has written her second book in the Fitzwilliam Darcy, a Gentleman, series in the Gothic style. I was so excited to read this book after reading the first, but I found myself disappointed: Want to Read saving…. Fitzwilliam Darcy, Gentleman 4 books.

That said, I must admit that the book did hold my attention from start to finish and I was hard pressed to put it down Thanks for telling us about the problem. The tale does twist down bizarre, and even creepy, alleys, but why not? She graduated from high school with the desire to be a history teacher, but changed her major to Library Science after her first year at college.

The idea of Elizabeth and everything Darcy admires about her is felt all throughout, but she does not make an appearance and one does not feel the lack more on that on my review of the third book: Aidan could easily have only written TWO novels and condensed the “action” of this time period to keep the story going, but as it is this middle book drags on and on without any real purpose.
Elizabeth may not be in the book in person but she is never far from Darcy’s thoughts and her presence is very much felt. View all 5 comments.

I must mention though that Elizabeth only appeared in this book in Mr Darcy’s mind. There are no discussion topics on this book yet. Yet he must care! To me, the two do not fit.

The story didn’t fit in with the Darcy I see in the original story. Darcy and his valet are more like Batman and Robin Religion plays a bigger role as the novel progresses. Mar 21, Katie rated it really liked it.
