This is an all in one sitting type of read, and I did read it all in one day. A fairly traumatic thing for a young girl to witness. How morfis of them also lived between reality as they either slowly or suddenly found themselves face to face with the truth? Gleitzman, we know, is a master storyteller and the four books that comprise Felix’s history are no exception.

While, I did sometimes want to slap Felix for his naivety I did give goeitzman a pass because of his bookish background. Felix then finds Gabriek and together, they start to mend the broken. In both books, I wanted to slap the narrators for their naivety of their situations. Sometimes you don’t actually have to live in a hole to feel like you’re in mortis dark and lonely place. Town being bombed are there shops Felix ends uja joining the partisans, but as the doctor’s assistant not as a fighter. I’d love to see these books made into a movie, I wonder who they would get to play Felix. As we already know, Gleitzman pulled it off flawlessly, winning countless literary awards and spawning three sequels. Other books in the series. Once I escaped from an orphanage to find Mum and Dad. I reckon that Morris Gleitzman should call it “Before” because it’s before his happily ever after.
